There are about 15 human
Y-DNA haplogroups. These are
subpopulations having specific genetic mutations that occurred up to 60,000
years ago. Broad prehistoric migrations
have been traced by determining the prevalence of individual haplogroups in
specific geographic regions. See Y-DNA Haplogroup
Descriptions.

Reginald Piffard Ray (1880-1960). A male
Ray descendant, my first cousin, has been tested by Sorenson. His 37 measured DNA markers are included in
the Sorenson and Ysearch databases. He is a descendant of Thomas Ray, b.abt.1625
in
Ray ancestry of Deane
Merrill (Rootsweb database dm_ray1)
