July 2010
A fund has been established at Family Tree DNA (FTDNA) in Houston, Texas to pay part of the costs of Y-DNA testing for persons unable to pay the full amount. The fund can be applied only toward purchase of the 37-marker test, which is considered by the administrators to be the minimum test for meaningful genetic comparisons.
How to request assistance:
A potential testee wishing to benefit from the fund should contact directly by email one of the Merrill/Merrell surname project administrators:
Dave Merrell, dwmerrell@yahoo.com
Deane Merrill, dwmerrill@charter.net
Gary Merrill, ozobryum@comcast.net
Howard and Jean Merrill, hjmerril@yahoo.com
The testee must meet these
requirements:
(1) be a Merrill or Merrell-surnamed male;
(2) submit what he knows of his all-male pedigree at the time he makes
application;
(3) agree to have his DNA test results posted publicly. No personal
identifiers are posted. Each testee is identified anonymously by his FTDNA
test number.
Our fund is limited. Therefore, we, the administrators, reserve the right to decide how much of the fund is to be applied, on a case by case basis. We consider (1) financial need and (2) where the funds will do the most good in advancing the project. Our purpose is to learn as much as possible about Merrill and Merrell ancestry for the benefit of our members.
Your request for assistance will be confidential, unless you direct otherwise.
How to make a donation:
A donor may choose to earmark his/her contribution to a specific family, as
follows:
Donations to "Unassigned" will be used where the administrators believe they will do the most good.
The donor can also make an anonymous donation for a particular testee.
Your donation will be confidential, unless you direct otherwise.
Payment can be made electronically or by U.S. mail, as follows:
(1) By credit card or PayPal. Click on the following
