cleaned GEDCOM file (50K)

database dwmerrill13includes the descendants of Lewis Lanham of Prince George's County, Maryland. The database is maintained by Betty Lanham Pound in Family Treemaker Online.  The file dwmerrill13.ged was mailed to Deane Merrill on 9/22/97; it was converted to dwmerrill13.ftw by Family Treemaker for Windows (FTM) 4.4.   To suppress information for living persons, the program gedclean (version 2.11) was downloaded from http://www.raynorshyn.com/gedclean/.   Gedclean was run with the simplest options: assume person is dead only if death date is given, or if birthdate is prior to 1898.  By this criterion, 101 persons are living, who are listed in clean.txt.

Continuation lines with trailing "=" were converted into lines with preceding "CONC".  Programs fixftm40.csh and fixftm40.ed converted quoted text in sources.  The revised GEDCOM file clean.ged was processed on an a.out-compatible LINUX system wwh.net, with GED2HTML LINUX ELF version 3.0b of 5/28/97, and  with custom files hoptions3.g2 and custom3.g2h.

Database dwmerrill13 was submitted to Gene Stark's GENDEX and to Chris Perry's GENMATCH.
